As the market leader in the field of diode and thyristor semiconductor modules, SEMIKRON enjoys a 37% of the worldwide market. SEMIKRON technology can be found in almost half the wind power installations operating worldwide today. According to a study conducted by BTM Consult ApS, 122 GW of wind power was installed around the world until 2009, 57 GW of which feature SEMIKRON components.

In 2009, SEMIKRON formed a 50/50 joint venture with Magna Electronics to develop and produce converters, rectifiers and charger systems for hybrid and electric powered vehicles.
